2028 five-star quarterback Christopher Vargas has committed to Ohio State, giving the Buckeyes an elite addition to the QB room.

BOOM! Ohio State lands 2028 five-star quarterback Christopher Vargas. He is the No. 1-ranked QB, according to 247Sports composite rankings.

247Sports Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn made a crystal-ball prediction for Vargas in favor of the Buckeyes on Wednesday. Vargas held offers from 19 other programs, including Oregon, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and more. Vargas is now the fourth member of the Buckeyes’ 2028 class, joining Elijah Newman-Hall, Jett Harrison, and Jameer Whyce.

The St. John’s Prep (MA) Product is one of the most talented players in the country. Vargas posted an amazing sophomore season, completing 117 passes for 1,857 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He led St. John’s to a Massachusetts Division I State Championship in that same season.

The multi-sport athlete also competes in track and plays baseball. Vargas posted a time of 7.16 in the 55-meter sprint and a season-high jump of 19-7.75 in the long jump.

The Buckeyes have secured their future quarterbacks for the next two classes.

2027 quarterback Brady Edmunds shut down his recruitment recently after taking visits to UCLA. With Christopher Vargas now in the 2028 class, the Buckeyes have secured their quarterbacks for the future. Ryan Day and his staff have done a wonderful job of developing quarterbacks for the NFL, making it an intriguing destination for the nation’s top signal callers.

As Julian Sayin prepares for his last season before the NFL Draft, we can look forward to a bright future at quarterback for years to come.
