Ohio State Club Football player Jackson Gula was called up to join the Ohio State football team, as the fourth player to earn the opportunity.
Columbus, Ohio – The Ohio State University is a program that every athlete would say is an honor to play for, as the Buckeyes have been a top-five program in college athletics for the past 100 years. The Ohio State Football team is on the verge of a National Championship every season, but some fans may not notice what is happening in the Buckeyes’ club athletics.
Ohio State offers an assortment of club sports for students to participate in. Over the years, the club athletics have had a combined 21 programs that have won National Championships in their respective leagues.
The Ohio State Club Football team is the reigning back-to-back National Champions and a four-time National Club Football Champion, following their 49-0 victory over Michigan State in the Semifinals and a 28-8 win over Coppin State in the National Championship game in December.
One of the key members of the Buckeyes’ secondary was Freshman Safety Jackson Gula, who accumulated 29 tackles, 8 pass breakups, and 3 interceptions to help the Buckeyes achieve destiny in his first season. One of his three interceptions came in the National Championship game against Coppin State.

Tuesday evening, it was announced that Jackson Gula was being called up to play for The Ohio State Buckeyes. Gula becomes the fourth player on the 2026 Buckeye roster to come from Coach James Grega Jr’s team. Gula joins Offensive Lineman Ian Gesce, Linebacker Zach Hayes, and Cornerback Glorien Gough as walk-ons for the 2026 Ohio State Buckeyes.

Jackson Gula attended Streetsboro High School, where he helped lead the Rockets to a 36-11 overall record and a 22-3 mark in his final two years. He finished his high school career with 401 tackles, 12 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles while also breaking four Streetsboro football records.
Coming out of High School, Gula held offers from D3 Powerhouse John Carroll University, Baldwin Wallace University, Mount St. Joseph’s, and D1 Valparaiso. Gula becomes the second Streetsboro alumnus to join the Buckeyes, as former Buckeye Defensive Lineman Mike Hall Jr also attended Streetsboro and is currently playing for the Cleveland Browns.

The Ohio State Buckeyes Club team just announced its 2026-27 schedule a few weeks ago. They open the season against Michigan State, followed by Pittsburgh, George Mason, Rio Grande (JV), Wright State, Cincinnati United, and Toledo. Head Coach James Grega Jr. and his Buckeyes look to three-peat as Club Football National Champions and compete in their 8th straight NCFA National Championship game since 2019.
AJ is currently a sophomore at Bowling Green State University. He has been a sports fan and Ohio State fan since he was a kid, and has been covering sports since 2020. AJ runs his own podcast called Just Talkin Sports, where he interviews athletes from all sports. He has over 2,300 plays on Spotify and 300 followers on Instagram. AJ plans to study Sport Management and minor in marketing while also interning for BGSU Athletics Strategic Communications.
