The Silver Bulletin’s TJ Warner got to catch up with David Gabriel Georges after his visit to Ohio State for the big-time matchup against Texas.

David Gabriel Georges is a five-star running back drawing attention from nearly every school in the country. He plays at Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and I’m hoping to be at his highly anticipated rivalry game against McCallie to see him live. Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn has made Georges a priority in the 2027 class.

When I asked Georges about his relationship with Coach Locklyn, he said, “The relationship is getting better as time goes. Locklyn is often in contact with me and my family too. He often speaks with my uncle and aunt.” That relationship continues to grow between Georges and the Buckeyes’ staff, and it will be vital when decision time eventually comes.

When asked about the game against Texas, Georges shared his impressions: “The game was amazing. OSU played at a high level. I like what I saw. The energy in the stadium was epic. I felt it.” Week 1 wins aren’t only important for the current season, they send a message to recruits that Ohio State remains a powerhouse, and Saturday’s atmosphere did just that. The crowd and energy left an impression, and it’s easy to see how that experience will stick with recruits like Georges.

I also asked how Ohio State stacks up in his recruitment compared to other schools, and David was very clear: “The vibe with OSU has always been good. OSU is one of the top contenders in my recruiting and I’ve always been transparent of that.” That’s strong news for the Buckeyes, but the battle for the five-star back is far from over.

One thing is for sure: Georges has the talent to be a day-one difference-maker wherever he chooses. I’ll be following this recruitment closely as Ohio State continues to make him a top priority.

Georges’ visit to Columbus made it clear that Ohio State is firmly in the mix for one of the nation’s premier prospects in the 2027 class. The combination of a growing relationship with Coach Locklyn, the energy of the Horseshoe on game day, and the consistent message from the Buckeyes’ staff has left an impression that will carry forward in his recruitment.

With so many top programs in pursuit, nothing is set in stone, but it’s hard to ignore the momentum Ohio State has built with Georges. If his comments are any indication, the Buckeyes will remain a serious contender until the very end. Stay tuned on my twitter as I will be actively following this recruitment closely.
