Ryan Day continues to prove he’s an elite College Football coach as Ohio State extends its seven game Top-10 win streak against No. 1 Texas.

It’s time to talk about Ryan Day in big games.

With Ohio State’s win over Texas to open the season, Day has now rattled off seven straight victories against top-10 opponents. This streak dates back to the Buckeyes’ November win at Penn State last season and includes a dominant playoff run, in which Ohio State captured the national championship, beating Tennessee at home, Oregon in the Rose Bowl, Texas in the Cotton Bowl, and Notre Dame in Atlanta for the title.

Now, fresh off another statement win against Texas, Ryan Day is proving again and again that he’s capable of winning the big one.

This new, unleashed version of Ryan Day feels different. Since climbing the mountain and delivering a national championship, he carries himself with confidence and continues to reach new heights. He deserves the benefit of the doubt. In fact, you could argue he’s one of the best coaches in college football right now, perhaps only behind Kirby Smart, who holds one more national title.

During this stretch, Ohio State has taken down three (two teams) SEC powers: two wins over Texas and one over Tennessee, with six of those seven opponents ranked inside the top five at kickoff. The lone exception? Tennessee, which still entered the matchup ranked inside the top ten.

Day’s journey hasn’t been without bumps. Since taking the whistle from Urban Meyer in Pasadena after the 2018 Rose Bowl, he has been to the College Football Playoff in 2019, the National Championship in 2020, and navigated difficult stretches against Michigan, where he is currently 1-4.

Still, his resume speaks for itself: a national title, one of the most incredible postseason runs in college football history, and a team that remains prepared no matter the circumstances.

This offseason, Day had to replace 14 NFL Draft picks and retool his staff, bringing in Matt Patricia and elevating Brian Hartline. He rolled out Julian Sayin at quarterback with a sharp, limited game plan and fielded a defense that set the tone. On Saturday, the Buckeyes played with an edge, hitting harder, playing faster, and never flinching in the moment.

The atmosphere in the Horseshoe was electric. Buckeye Nation brought the juice, and the team responded. Ryan Day once again proved he’s the right man for Ohio State.

Hats off to Day. He is the ultimate competitor, a proven winner, and, without question, one of the elite coaches and individuals in college football.
