BOOM!! 2026 Four-Star Guard Marcus Johnson Commits to Ohio State
Jake Diebler lands his first recruit as head coach for the Buckeyes in four-star 2026 guard Marcus Johnson out of Cleveland, Ohio. Johnson is the cousin of Meechie Johnson who recently returned to the Buckeyes after transferring to South Carolina two seasons ago.

Johnson chose Ohio State over many offers that included Alabama, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Villanova, West Virginia, and more. Johnson is currently the number one ranked player in the state of Ohio for the class of 2026, and is the twenty-fourth ranked player in the country by 247 Sports.

This past season Marcus was named the 2023-24 Ohio Player of The Year by Maxpreps and the Ohio Division One Player of The Year. He averaged 23.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 50% from the field and 39% from three-point range as he helped lead Garfield Heights to a 25-2 record and a Regional Finals appearance.
AJ is currently a senior at Teays Valley High School and plans to attend college next year. He has been a sports fan and Ohio State fan since he was a kid, and has been covering sports since 2020. He was a student manager for his Boy’s Basketball team for two seasons where the team won back to back league championships. AJ runs his own podcast called Just Talkin Sports, where he interviews athletes from all sports. He has over 1,800 plays on Spotify and 300 followers on Instagram. AJ plans to study Sport Management and minor in Journalism while also becoming a student manager for his selected college.
