Mathis picked the Buckeyes over Florida State, Texas, Texas, Tennessee, and South Carolina. He stands in at 6’6 and weighs 225lbs. The Pennsylvania EDGE has a ton of speed and not a lot of wasted movement for a pass rusher. He has good technique and power, bullying offensive tackles easily. Mathis is a very good playmaker as well on the EDGE, from swatting passes to breaking through containment, and to chasing down players 10+ yards downfield.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have received another offer from Ohio State University. @R2X_Rushmen1 @cy_woodland #OSURushmen pic.twitter.com/Jb8s6BpcHj

Mathis was offered by Ohio State back in June 2023 and told The Silver Bulletin at the time “The program’s history and the history of the DL, [means a lot].” Mathis also described Coach Larry Johnson as a “Legendary coach.”
With the commitment of Mathis, it adds a top-end pass rusher to what could be an elite defensive class. He’s got the size, the skill to be a legend. He attends Pennsylvania Powerhouse, Imhotep Institute, and has dominated. Imhotep has produced some top high school pass rushers. On the defensive side in Ohio State’s 2025 class he joins five-star CB Devin Sanchez, four-star CB Blake Woodby, and three-star LB Eli Lee as early commitments.
According to 247sports composite, he is ranked as the #33 prospect nationally, and #5 EDGE. Mathis is ranked as the best player in Pennsylvania.
