Ohio State Recruiting: 2025 Four-Star EDGE Zahir Mathis Talks Buckeye Offer

The Buckeyes coaching staff has been on a roll, handing out offers to many highly-touted recruits in the 2025 class. One of those offers was to 2025 four-star EDGE Zahir Mathis, out of Pennsylvania. Mathis has been called the best player in Pennsylvania in the 2025 class, and is rated as the top player in the state as well as the No. 94 overall player in the class.

The 2025 Under Armour All-American has a bunch of interest in Ohio State, saying “The program’s history and the history of the DL, [means a lot].” Mathis also described Coach Larry Johnson as a “Legendary coach.” Mathis is planning on making a visit to Ohio State this summer, although a specific date has not been determined yet.

Despite the Buckeyes going to be a possible player in his recruitment, many other programs are still joining the race or have been in the race. Mathis has reported offers from schools such as Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan, and USC, among others. He tellsĀ The Silver Bulletin that he is planning to cut down his list of schools towards the end of the summer, although he has not determined just how many schools will make the cut.

This could be a recruitment the Buckeyes are in for a while. Mathis currently attends Pennsylvania powerhouse Imhotep Institute. Mathis is a very talented player, and his size would be killer with Larry Johnson’s developmental skills. Bringing Mathis to Columbus would bring Buckeye Nation a really talented player to keep an eye on for several years.
