Ohio State picked up their second 2025 commit today as four-star in-state signal caller Tavien St. Clair announced he has committed to the Buckeyes.

St. Clair wasn’t expected to make this quick of a decision, but elected to secure his spot in a 2025 quarterback room that Ohio State has tried to move quickly on. St. Clair, who hails from Bellfontaine High School in Ohio, is rated as the No. 246 overall prospect in the 2025 rankings, the No. 25 quarterback, and the No. 10 player from the state of Ohio.
The Buckeyes have already attempted to put more emphasis on in-state recruiting, and this has held true for the 2024 class and now into the 2025 class, with Ryan Day and company taking an early commit from St. Clair and potentially passing on the recruitment of No. 1 quarterback Bryce Underwood. It is no secret that the Buckeyes would like two quarterbacks in the 2025 class, although fellow in-state product Ryan Montgomery (brother of Ohio State offensive lineman Luke Montgomery) would seem to be a much more likely second member rather than Underwood.
In addition, St. Clair was offered by Jim Harbaugh and Michigan just last week, perhaps adding a sense of urgency to Day’s plans for his own 2025 class. St. Clair also holds reported offers from schools such as Alabama, Florida, LSU, Penn State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech, among others.
St. Clair is the second commitment in Ohio State’s small 2025 class, joining Georgia defensive back Jontae Gilbert. His addition represents a strong start, as it is always good to have your future quarterback in the fold when building a young recruiting class.
