BOOM! Ole Miss Transfer DL Tywone Malone Commits to Ohio State

Tywone Malone

BOOM! The Buckeyes land another elite player in the transfer portal, earning a commitment from former Ole Miss defensive lineman Tywone Malone. Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson adds a potential star into the rotation, representing a huge get for the Buckeyes.

Malone stands in about 6-4 and weighs in at 305lbs. His size creates problems for offensive linemen, and his power lets him kill baseballs. Malone is a two-sport athlete, playing baseball and football. On the gridiron, Malone is a great interior defensive tackle and make the rotation on the DL nasty. The Buckeyes add him with Micheal Hall Jr, Tyliek Williams, Hero Kanu, and more. Before Ole Miss, Malone attended New Jersey powerhouse Bergen Catholic. The Buckeyes were one of his top schools coming out of high school, but it ultimately took a few extra years to get him to Columbus.

The Buckeyes beat out Miami, Michigan, Florida State, and even a possible return to Ole Miss for Malone’s services this time around. Malone joins his former Ole Miss teammate, CB Davison Igbinosun, at Ohio State. They both were key players for the Rebel’s defense. The 2023 cycle represents Ohio State’s most active portal addition window to date, with the Buckeyes adding seven players.

In his time at Ole Miss, Malone was a 2021 Preseason True Freshman All American (ESPN) and was on Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in the Spring of 2022. He won a national championship with Ole Miss in Baseball. Last season he started in 13 Games and had 5 Solo tackles, 5 Assisted tackles, 10 Total tackles, 1 Sack for 2 yards.
