Ohio State Football: Big Time Recruiting Weekend In Columbus

2023 Daevin Hobbs and his sister 2024 F Ella Hobbs will both be unofficially visiting Ohio State October 1st .

Ohio State is coming off its second biggest recruiting weekend when recruits showed up for the blackout against Wisconsin. Now, this past weekend brought recruits in for the Annual Homecoming Game as Ohio State took on Rutgers on Saturday.

Ohio State is hosting another big slate of recruits headlined by rising 4 star Defensive Lineman Daevin Hobbs (Concord, NC ) and 5 star 2024 Defensive Lineman Justin Scott (Chicago, IL).

Daevin Hobbs was the shocker because he received an offer Thursday, September 29 and he cancelled his planned Auburn unofficial visit to visit Ohio State for the first time.

It is unlikely that Daevin will visit Ohio State for an Official visit because he already has used three officials North Carolina 6/17 Auburn 6/24 and he had an official visit at Tennessee last weekend.

He also has an Alabama Official scheduled for 10/22 and Georgia Scheduled for 11/4.

Daevin won’t be the only one in his family on an unofficial visit to Ohio State this weekend, Daevin’s younger sister Ella Hobbs who is a 2024 4 star forward who has an Ohio State offer and she is one of the best forwards in the class of 2024.

2024 5 Star Justin Scott had previously scheduled an unofficial visit last weekend for the Wisconsin game but was unable to make it but he is expected to be in attendance this afternoon. Ohio State believes they are in a good spot for the outstanding Midwest born defensive lineman.

Looks like right now it will be an Ohio State vs Notre Dame battle.

4 star 2024 ATH Kylan Fox was also in attendance for Ohio State’s game against Rutgers. Fox is a consensus top 200 player out of Powerhouse Grayson High School out of Georgia.

Ohio State is in the mix for the talented athlete out of Georgia, but I believe the Georgia Bulldogs are the team to beat in his recruitment as of right now.

2024 Instate Prospect was in The Shoe visiting Ohio State against Rutgers.

2024 3 star Tight End Gavin Grover (Lewis Center, Ohio) was another on the big list of recruits in attendance for Ohio State’s last home game before the Buckeyes go on the road.

Grover is an athletic Tight End out of Olentangy High School located in Lewis Center, Ohio. The recruit is currently working for the Ohio State offer. Currently, Grover holds 14 Division-1 offers headlined by Kentucky and Michigan State, also holds offers from Akron, Ball State, Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa State, Minnesota, Missouri, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Toledo, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.

Recently offered 2024 4 Star WR was in attendance for Ohio State vs Rutgers

As we know by now, Brian Hartline picks and chooses from the best wide receivers in the country every single year that’s why Ohio State has consistently had the best wide receiver core in the country for consecutive years now under Brian Hartline. One of the wide receivers Hartline recently offered will be in the building when Ohio State hosts Rutgers. 4 star 2024 WR Jeremiah McClellan was in The Shoe on October 1st for the Homecoming game vs Rutgers.

McClellan’s reaction following THE Ohio State offer

“It’s The Ohio State,” . “That’s all I have to say. It’s one of the best schools in the country.”

McClellan attends Christian Brothers College in Saint Louis, Missouri.  McClellan currently holds offers from Missouri, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Ohio State, Michigan, and more.

The Recap

Time will only tell if Ohio State capitalizes on recent recruiting visits. Ohio State is has made it a tight race for 5 Star DE Keon Keeley as Keeley visited twice in the month of September. Other big time recruits that Ohio State have hosted in September are 2024 5 star WR Jeremiah Smith, 2024 4 star WR Mylan Graham, 2024 4 Star CB Bryce West, 4 star OL Ian Moore, 4 star ATH Garrett Stover.

The Buckeyes are in really good position for those five prospects in the class of 2024, keep an eye out because with modern day recruiting kids commit a lot earlier than in recent years. Ohio State hosted its third big recruiting weekend in five weeks as Ryan Day and company are starting to get hot again on the recruiting trail.

The third ranked Buckeyes earned its 5th win on the season against Big Ten East opponent Rutgers.
