Royal is rated as the No. 73 overall player in the 2023 class, the No. 14 small forward, and the No. 2 player in the state of Ohio. He joins fellow Ohioans George Washington III (No. 1 in Ohio) and Austin Parks (No. 5) as commits in the Buckeyes’ 2023 class.
Royal represents another big win in the state of Ohio for Chris Holtmann, who has done a relatively good job locking down in-state prospects since beginning his tenure at Ohio State. Players such as Malaki Branham and Meechie Johnson have stayed in-state (at least for the beginning of their careers) and now Royal will join what should be a loaded 2023 Buckeye squad.
