The Buckeyes spring momentum on the recruiting trail just keeps on chugging along. The class of 2023 has just added its first wide receiver commitment in Florida native Bryson Rodgers. Rodgers comes to the Buckeyes as a 6-foot-2, 170-pound playmaker who can be seen on film with elite route running ability and great after catch speed. As the first member to join Zone 6 in the 2023 class, it only feels fitting that it was Rodgers due to his Ohio ties.

The Silver Bulletin had a chance to catch up with Rodgers a couple months ago and it always just felt like he knew this was eventually going to be the move.
“I’m actually from Ohio and I moved to Florida, so I’m definitely a Buckeye at heart,” said Rodgers. “My whole family are Buckeye fans, I’ve got a ton of family who still live in Ohio and we just love the Buckeyes so this offer means everything to us.”

Ryan Day mentioned before that this recruitment felt very similar to former Ohio State receiver and future NFL first round pick Garrett Wilson’s. Day explained that both players were born in Ohio but moved down south at a young age, but both never lost their love and dream to play for the Buckeyes. It is quite ironic the similarities the two have in their stories, but they also share some traits on the football field.
Both players playmaking ability to stretch the field is very similar but the two also have an elite ability to high point the football with their long lanky frames. Rodgers will be able to be molded through Brian Hartline and used in the same fashion that Wilson was by the time he grows into his body and steps foot on campus for his freshman year. This commitment comes following the spring game visit and we should expect the domino effect to continue in the coming days and weeks.
