BOOM! Four-Star Cornerback Dijon Johnson Commits to Ohio State!

Ohio State officially locked up its first cornerback in the 2023 class as Tampa, Florida native Dijon Johnson announced he would be joining the Buckeye class. Johnson’s commitment comes on the heals of his spring game visit yesterday, as he had no hesitation to commit following the green light from head coach Ryan Day and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles.

The Buckeyes were among 36 power-five offers for Johnson although being ranked as the 29th corner in the country by the 247 composite. Day mentioned in the past that Johnson felt similar to the Kye Stokes recruitment as someone who was seen as under recruited and undervalued based on tape.

The Ohio State staff has a has a history of finding diamonds in the rough so to speak, or undiscovered talent before the vast majority. Johnson can be considered as just that based on all the positive feedback from the Ohio State staff.

Johnson becomes the 8th commit in Ohio State’s class and the second member to join the secondary following Malik Hartford’s commitment. The Buckeyes have put a major emphasis on the defensive side of the ball in the 2023 class after some major struggles in the past couple cycles.

This weekend has already been a major success for the Buckeyes from a variety of standpoints, having five 5-star prospects on campus and over 20 four-stars. The Buckeyes were hoping to net a couple commitments following the weekend and Johnson’s is hopefully the first of a few.
