In another bit of unsurprising news, Ohio State offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere has announced that he will be declaring for the 2022 NFL Draft.
Thank you Buckeye Nation!
Summer’s heat or winter’s cold, The seasons pass the years will roll, Time and change will surely show, How firm thy friendship…

Petit-Frere’s time as a Buckeye has been interesting. He was one of the biggest recruiting wins of the Urban Meyer era, as Ohio State, led by Greg Schiano, plucked him out of Tampa away from Alabama, Notre Dame, and Florida late in the 2018 recruiting cycle after missing out on in-state target Jackson Carman. Petit-Frere was ranked as the No. 1 offensive tackle prospect in the 2018 class.
Petit-Frere was not expected to contribute immediately, due to being slightly underweight for the position coming out of high school, and redshirted the 2018 season. After a rough 2019, including a game against Northwestern where Petit-Frere started in place of an injured Thayer Munford but was replaced by Munford in the second quarter after poor performance, Petit-Frere blossomed heading into 2020.
In the abbreviated 2020 season and throughout 2021, Petit-Frere was arguably Ohio State’s best offensive lineman, anchoring right tackle in 2020 before switching to the blind side in 2021.
Petit-Frere is expected to be selected in the 2nd or 3rd round of the upcoming NFL Draft.
