This is the first week of our Silver Bulletin Q&A. You ask the questions and I do my best to provide the answers. I’ve had lots of messages over Twitter in the past few weeks about where Ohio State stands with certain recruits and who’s in or who’s out. This our time to talk about some of the best questions surrounding Ohio State football recruiting news.

1. Do the Buckeyes have a chance to land Lebbeus Overton?

The Buckeyes were included in Overton’s top five yesterday when he announced that he would be reclassifying to the 2022 class. Now I  think it is a positive sign for the Buckeyes that he was included and shows the respect the highly regarded edge rusher has for Larry Johnson. However, this one is really down to Texas A&M and Georgia. I have A&M edging out the defending National Champs, but I think Georgia is a lot closer in this recruitment than most realize.

2. Who are the Buckeyes going to land as their 2023 quarterback?

That’s a pretty difficult question to answer at this point in time but there are certainly a couple names that are standing out most to me right now. The first guy I believe Ohio State actually has a good lead on is five-star California product Nicholaus Iamaleava. The 6-foot-5 gunslinger is a very complete quarterback with having the ability to escape the pocket as well as throw the deep ball on the run. Iamaleava and his family really seem to be noticing what Ryan Day is doing with CJ Stroud and I would not be surprised to see Ohio State land another Cali product.

The second QB I think Ohio State has really zeroed in on is Dylan Lonergan. Lonergan is a highly sought after game manager who is  Ryan Day’s prototypical QB product. Much like Devin Brown, Lonergan commands the game and can spread the ball all around the field at an efficient rate. I can definitely see why Day is pressing so hard for him as he fits the “Stroud Buckeye offense” better than Iamaleava but Iamaleava just provides that extra ability to escape the pocket much like Justin Fields did. Regardless, Ohio State would be getting a reliable and sure fire NFL QB if they were to land either player.

Hot take: The Buckeyes land Iamaleava.

3. Do you think Ohio State lands another elite RB in 2023.

Yes I do and I believe that player is Lehigh Senior (Florida) product Richard Young. I love this question because I’m closer to this recruitment than almost every other recruit I touch base with. Young is not only the most elite RB in the 2023 class, but he’s got a lot of Najee Harris traits in him coming out of high school.

The break away ability, the overpowering strength, and the ability to take over a game on his own, it’s fun to watch. Now I mentioned in our Bullet Points on Wednesday that this recruitment is being led by Ohio State and Alabama but what I did not say is that I have Ohio State leading by a wide margin. I believe the Buckeyes have something the Crimson Tide do not in this recruitment and that is Tony Alford.

Young has mentioned that his best relationship is with Alford and he almost feels like a second father to him already. Young has taken three trips up to Columbus already on unofficial visits and to work out with Alford on his own dime. If that does not indicate how he’s feeling about the program than this should: Young had the chance to go visit Alabama one of the weeks he went to Columbus, but declined the chance to go workout with Alford for the third time. I like the Buckeyes to win out for Young and that’s with a lot of confidence.
