Ohio State Football Recruiting: 2027 Talented QB Derrick Baker Talks Ohio State Offer

Despite the Buckeyes preparing for a big-time playoff matchup against Texas, their recruiting efforts are still in full effect. The Buckeyes went on an offer spree and offered a ton of prospects in the state of Florida. One of those was to 2027 QB Derrick Baker from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Florida. Baker has started to build an impressive offer list. He spoke to The Silver Bulletin about his Ohio State offer and more.

The offer is a big one for him and personally, a validation, “Offers to me at this point are validation of the work I have put in at being a QB. It helps give me direction as far as what coaches and programs are interested in me so I can look deeper into their offense and see if I can be an asset to that coach and the goal of winning a national championship.” He spoke highly about what stands out to him about Ohio State, “The offense and Buckeyes tradition stand out.” Baker added, “I’m familiar with Jeremiah Smith and the impact he was able to go there and make as a freshman. I would like to have the same impact for a program as early as possible.”

It is very early in Baker’s recruitment process, but that doesn’t stop his interest in Ohio State. He said, “Ohio State is up there with my top schools for sure.” But, he also described what type of school would land him, “When it’s time to commit, the right offensive scheme and coaching staff who want and believe in me will determine where I go.” As said before, his offer list as an upcoming junior is impressive. Holding offers from Miami, Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, Ole Miss, and others. If Baker continues to put up outstanding production, we could see the Buckeyes involved when his recruitment is getting hot.
