BREAKING: Ohio State QB Kyle McCord enters the transfer portal after three seasons in Columbus.
Kyle McCord’s career as the starting quarterback at Ohio State ends after one year under center as Ryan Day appears to move in another direction. McCord led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 regular season notching big wins over Notre Dame, Penn State, and Wisconsin.

However, Ohio State dropped its third straight game to Michigan, and that’s the one you have to win. McCord had an up and down season throwing for 3,170 yards 24 touchdowns and six interceptions.
Ryan Day appears to be aggressive following his third straight loss to the Wolverines ready to evaluate his program from the top-down and the bottom-up.
Ohio State’s QB room is left with Devin Brown, Lincoln Keinholz, and incoming freshman Air Noland. The Buckeyes next play in the Cotton Bowl against Missouri on December 29th, where Brown and Keinholz will likely split time, pending Brown’s health.
Given the youth in the room, it is likely Ryan Day gets involved in the transfer portal to bring in a veteran QB to replace McCord. Washington State’s Cam Ward, UCLA’s Dante Moore, and Duke’s Riley Leonard are three of the best available as of now. Whether or not Day moves in any of their directions remains to be seen, but Ohio State will have a new signal caller for the 2024 season.
