Ohio State is on a solid run on the recruiting trail and picked up another big piece today when Wisconsin four-star offensive lineman Carson Hinzman announced that he will be heading to Columbus.

It has been seen as a two-team race for the Hammond, Wisconsin native with the in-state Wisconsin Badgers trying to keep one of their state’s best at home, and the Buckeyes trying to secure a major win in largely unfamiliar recruiting territory. Ultimately, after the departure of Wisconsin offensive line coach Joe Rudolph to Virginia, Greg Studrawa was able to seal the deal and add a major piece to his offensive line room heading into the 2022 season.
Hinzman is rated as the No. 134 overall recruit in the 2022 class, the No. 6 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 2 player from the state of Wisconsin. Studrawa has received a lot of flak in recent years over his (lack of) recruiting prowess, but this is objectively a massive win for the Buckeyes.
Hinzman joins Ohio products Avery Henry and Tegra Tshabola, as well as Colorado’s George Fitzpatrick, as offensive line signees in Ohio State’s 2022 class.
