The Buckeyes received some good news on the recruiting trail today when in-state interior offensive lineman Austin Siereveld announced he would be committing to Ohio State. The Buckeyes land their 10th commit in this class as new offensive line coach Justin Frye adds another key piece to the 2023 class.

The 6-foot-5, 315 pound offensive lineman out of Lakota East HS in Cincinnati held 17 offers nationally but had a top three consisting of Alabama, Notre Dame and Ohio State. Siereveld is a wide-chested imposing type of lineman who will likely play the guard position when he comes to Columbus. Siereveld will be expected to make an impact early as he is one of the rare few offensive lineman who come in already looking the part.
The Buckeyes were able to fend off the long time favorite Irish in this recruitment while also notching a very big win against Nick Saban and the Tide. This comes as a major win for Frye in his second recruiting battle against the Tide. The expectations for Frye were to come in and do exactly that- being able to win all in state recruiting battles and protect them from leaving the state.
Half of Ohio State’s 2023 class now consists of in-state products as Ryan Day’s staff continues to put a major emphasis on the talent filled group. The Buckeyes are also still very much in the ranks for Glenville product Arvell Reese who could also pop at any time but that should do it for in state commitments in the 2023 class unless the Buckeyes were to miss on some of their top targets.
