Jaxson Davis is the second commit in the past 24 hours for Jake Diebler and the Buckeye staff. Davis comes from Monarch Academy in Kansas, but spent the past 3 years at Warren Township High School in Illinois. The 2027 Point Guard chose the Buckeyes over Big Ten opponents Michigan State, Iowa, and Minnesota, as well as Marquette and Creighton.

Davis joins Deng Ngor in the Ohio State Class of 2027; Ngor committed on September 17 and chose the Buckeyes over Duke and others. Coach Diebler and the staff have made their mark by prioritizing high-level recruits who can contribute early in their career.
Jaxson Davis is the first player in Illinois High School Basketball history to win the Gatorade Player of the Year as a Sophomore. Davis also won the award this past year, making it a back-to-back.

Adam Finkelstein wrote a report on Davis’s game for 247 Sports and offered an exciting take on the guard’s game. “Davis is an undersized lefty guard who typically plays a high-volume, attacking style on both ends of the floor. He’s fast, quick, deceptively strong, with a compact build; tough and competitive. He also has some relative length and athleticism for his size… He’s run the show(USA Basketball), had his head constantly up, made simple and solid decisions with the ball, knocked down open shots, and still shown an ability to pick up the ball defensively.”
The Buckeyes are looking for their next true Point Guard to take the reins in the coming years as John Mobley Jr. is getting closer to the NBA. Davis should be an exciting playmaker for Coach Diebler and could be the most athletic true Point Guard the Buckeyes have had since D’Angelo Russell.
JUST IN: Warren’s Jaxson Davis is the 2026 Chicago Sun-Times Player of the Year.
Davis is the 67th POY. The award dates back to 1960. He’s the first Lake County winner since Jalen Brunson in 2015.https://t.co/mEtn33mwRU

Coach Diebler and the staff are cooking right now, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down this weekend. Center Jayden Jenkins also visits the Bucks next week and could fill a huge need Ohio State hasn’t been able to address in the past few seasons: a true high school center who can develop.
