Jake Diebler adds crucial versatility and experience to what will be a deep backcourt for Ohio State

Ohio State lands a very solid all-around guard in Jimmie Williams from Duquesne. Jimmie is from Solon, Ohio and started his collegiate career at Wallace State Community College in Alabama where he averaged 22.5 PPG, 8.3 RPG and 5 APG in 2023. He then transferred to South Florida in 2024 where he played a bench role, averaging about 18 MPG and 7.5 PPG.

This past season however, Williams broke into a starting role for Duquense where he ended the year with 15.1 PPG, 46% FG and 34% 3PT which earned his 3rd team All-Atlantic 10 honors. At 6’ 5 and 210 lbs, Jimmie would undoubtedly add size to Ohio State’s backcourt and invaluable depth with his experience- something that Ohio State’s Guards lacked beyond Bruce Thornton this past season.

With Justin Pippen already in the mix and John Mobley Jr likely returning to Columbus, this addition already gives Jake Diebler an exceptionally versatile and experienced rotation in the backcourt. Judging by the exodus from the bench, the Buckeyes should also still be active in the portal even after this move.
