Ohio State has added another major piece to its future in the trenches, securing a commitment from highly touted offensive lineman Jimmy Kalis over a loaded group of finalists that included Clemson, Georgia, LSU, Miami, and Texas. The Buckeyes made Kalis a clear priority throughout the process, with offensive line coach Tyler Bowen playing a pivotal role in sealing the deal. Bowen’s consistent communication and vision for Kalis’ development in Columbus helped separate Ohio State from the pack, ultimately giving the Buckeyes the edge in one of the more competitive recruitments in the country.
Standing at an imposing 6′ 7″ and around 285 to 290 pounds, Jimmy Kalis brings the kind of size and physical profile that immediately translates to the next level. Hailing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he plays his high school football at Central Catholic, a program known for producing tough, fundamentally sound linemen. Built with long arms and a strong base, Kalis thrives in the trenches where his combination of length, strength, and balance allows him to control defenders at the point of attack. He shows a natural ability to anchor in pass protection while also creating movement in the run game, making him a true every down offensive tackle prospect.
