Ohio State vs. Texas takes center stage as TSB LIVE breaks down Week 1, key matchups, biggest questions, and score predictions.

On the latest episode of TSB LIVE at Hoggy’s BBQ, Blake Biscardi, Grant Kincaid, Josh Cassinger, and Dan Smyth broke down what they learned from the opening weekend and looked ahead to Ohio State’s trip to Austin for a showdown with Texas on Sept. 12.

The No. 1 Buckeyes opened the season with a dominant 56-3 win over Ball State. Julian Sayin looked sharp in his first start, showcasing his connection with Jeremiah Smith. No. 4 continued to look like one of the most dangerous players in the country, and Ohio State’s passing game showed plenty of explosiveness.

There are still questions to answer, particularly in the run game, as the Buckeyes prepare for their first major test of the season.

Texas was equally impressive in its opener, rolling past Texas State 59-7. Arch Manning made an early statement with 305 passing yards and four touchdowns, while the Longhorns showed off an offense with plenty of new weapons. Now, the focus shifts to Austin, and we broke it all down on the episode linked below.

Storylines in Austin

Ohio State’s passing attack will be a major storyline against a Texas defense that will have its hands full with Smith and the rest of the Buckeyes’ receivers. On the other side, Texas’ wide receivers present a significant challenge for an Ohio State secondary looking to prove itself against an elite opponent.

The battle in the trenches could ultimately determine which team controls the game, while situational play-calling and the decisions of Ryan Day and Steve Sarkisian could prove critical in what figures to be a tightly contested matchup.

The TSB LIVE crew also identified three players to watch, discussed the biggest question facing Manning, examined whether Ohio State’s defense can produce the game-changing plays it will need, and made their score predictions for the highly anticipated matchup.

Ohio State and Texas last met in the 2025 season opener, when the Buckeyes smothered the Longhorns in a 14-7 victory. This time, the stage is set in Austin, under the lights.
