Ohio State stars Jeremiah Smith and Luke Montgomery have been named to the Preseason AP All-America Teams.

Junior wide receiver Jeremiah Smith was named to the first-team offense as he prepares for what will likely be his final season with the Buckeyes. Smith is coming off a very productive sophomore season in which he recorded 87 receptions, 1,243 yards, and 12 touchdowns.

The Miami native ended the season with his second Big Ten Receiver of the Year Selection, and now a First-Team Preseason All-American Selection. Jeremiah Smith’s talent has been put on display since coming to Ohio State as a true freshman.

Jeremiah Smith showcased his rare talent in 2024 with a record-setting true freshman season, earning him a unanimous All-American Selection, Big Ten Receiver of the Year Award, and, of course, a National Championship ring. He broke the Big Ten freshman receiving-yard record with 1,315 yards, and the Big Ten freshman receptions record with 76 receptions.

In addition, he broke the single-game receiving yards record for an Ohio State freshman with 176 in the Rose Bowl. Smith placed sixth in the Heisman Trophy voting that season. As he steps into his junior season, Smith will look to earn even more accolades to cap off a legendary Ohio State career.

One thing missing from Jeremiah Smith’s trophy case is the coveted Biletnikoff Award given to the nation’s best wide receiver. Smith has fallen short the past two seasons; he reached the semifinals in his true freshman year before the award was eventually given to Colorado’s Travis Hunter. He then reached the finals last season before the award was given to Oregon’s Makai Lemon.

Smith is expected to be a favorite for the award this season in addition to earning another All-American selection, giving him the chance to join an exclusive list of Ohio State receivers to be selected in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Ohio State left guard Luke Montgomery was named to the second team after a productive junior season. He is expected to be a leader for the Buckeyes this season. Tyler Bowen’s group returns four starters looking to write a better story than a year ago.

Luke Montgomery started in all 14 games for the Buckeyes in 2025, totaling 870 snaps between offensive line and special teams. Montgomery’s strong play this season had a huge impact on the run game as freshman running back Bo Jackson burst onto the scene with over 1,000 yards.

Montgomery posted a zone run-block grade of 85.2 according to Pro Football Focus. Montgomery’s play earned him a second-team All-Big Ten Selection and now a second-team Preseason All-American Selection.
