Ohio State football recruiting is targeting a talented four-star West Coast wide receiver, Blake Wong, who has the Buckeyes on his official visit list next month.

Blake Wong’s recruitment is beginning to take a clear shape, and the talented wide receiver has narrowed his focus to five programs as he approaches a pivotal stretch in his process. Wong recently dropped a top group of Oregon, Utah, BYU, UCLA, and Ohio State, setting the stage for a decision that could come sooner rather than later.

With official visits lined up to all five schools, Wong is entering a critical evaluation period that will ultimately determine where he lands. “I plan on committing after my official visits,” he told The Silver Bulletin, noting that Ohio State will get the final opportunity to make its case with a visit scheduled for June 19th through the 21st. That timing could prove significant, as the Buckeyes will have the last impression before his decision.

Ohio State has been a consistent presence throughout Wong’s recruitment. He has already made four trips to Columbus, building familiarity with the program and its culture. “I love the culture overall there,” he said. “They believed in me early.” That early belief dates back to a camp setting, where the previous wide receivers coach, Brian Hartline, extended an offer, setting the tone for a strong relationship moving forward.

Wong has kept steady communication with the Buckeye staff, and that connection was recently strengthened with an in-home visit from Coach Cortez Hankton. He also continues to speak with the staff weekly, helping Ohio State remain firmly in contention.

Adding to that connection is his relationship with quarterback commit Brady Edmunds, whom Wong has played with in 7-on-7. Edmunds has been actively recruiting him to join the class, giving Ohio State another edge as they push to land him.

Across the board, Wong says he has built strong relationships with all five programs still in the mix, making this a tightly contested recruitment. Coaches have pitched his fit in different ways, with some comparing his game to players like Brock Boyd, pointing to his ability to make plays and impact the offense.

When it comes to making a final decision, Wong is focused on more than just football. “It comes down to can I live there, the culture, and development,” he told The Silver Bulletin. Those factors, along with his maturity and background as a track athlete, reflect a prospect who is thinking long term about both his development and overall experience.

A standout from Norco, Wong has built a reputation not only as a playmaker but also as a disciplined and mature individual. That combination has made him a priority target for multiple high-level programs, all hoping to secure his commitment following his official visits.

With a decision looming after his June trips and Ohio State set to host him last, the Buckeyes have positioned themselves well heading into the final stretch. Now, it will come down to which program can deliver the strongest overall fit when it matters most.
