Ohio State football is getting a new look in more ways than one for the 2026 season, as the program unveils new uniforms and stadium turf.
The Buckeyes announced a comprehensive uniform overhaul this week, alongside a new playing surface at Ohio Stadium, both set to debut for the 2026 season. The changes, developed in partnership with Nike and Shaw Sports Turf respectively, represent the program’s most significant visual refresh in recent memory.

New Uniforms
The updated uniform system features five distinct looks: the traditional Core Home (Silver/Scarlet/Gray) and Core Road (Silver/White/Gray), plus three alternates: Tunnel Vision (all-black), Scarlet Rush (all-scarlet, last worn against Tennessee in the 2024 CFP Playoffs), and Sub Zero (all-white, first debuted in the 2020 win at Michigan State).
Of note, Ohio State’s all-gray uniforms were not part of this week’s trio of press releases.

Ohio State will announce specific game-week uniform selections throughout the season, leaving room for themed matchups and atmosphere.
Every combination features two notable additions: a metallic silver Buckeye Stripe on the sleeves, redesigned to match the iconic helmet silver better, and a Block O at the center of each jersey collar. A decorative festoon pattern inside the collar pays homage to the architectural ornamentation of Ohio Stadium itself, a detail lifted directly from the building’s Roman-influenced design.

All five uniforms are built on Nike’s Vapor F.U.S.E. platform, with laser perforations engineered for airflow and range of motion.
New Stadium Turf
Ohio Stadium will also receive a new playing surface featuring Shaw Sports Turf’s Forge Series system, installed by The Motz Group and continuing under Safelite sponsorship. The Forge Series meets NFL standards and integrates field markings directly into the turf using Shaw’s Game ON technology, providing Ohio State’s staff with customizable end-zone branding for themed games.
Athletics Director Ross Bjork called it a positioning statement: “These initiatives position Ohio State as the premier brand in college sports for the 2026 season and beyond.” He also confirmed the program continues to explore a jersey patch sponsorship, promising any future deal will be approached with the program’s standard of intentionality.
Ryan Day kept it simple: “Our players are fired up about these new combinations – from the Buckeye Stripe return to the all-black look making its way back. Additionally, the new turf is a welcomed upgrade to Ohio Stadium to maintain the safety and performance of our players on gamedays.”
All of these refreshments and upgrades are confirmation that Ohio State football is moving as the premier program in College Football.
