BOOM! Ohio State’s 2027 Recruiting class adds a huge piece to the offensive line, as Davis Seaman is a name to watch to play all five positions up front.
For Davis Seaman, the decision ultimately came down to something deeper than rankings, offers, or timelines. It was about home. The Columbus native made it official, committing to Ohio State and becoming one of the final pieces in the Buckeyes’ 2027 offensive line class, giving the program another versatile and physical presence in the trenches.
Seaman, a 6-foot-4.5, 290-pound lineman with the ability to play all five positions up front, had no shortage of options. Schools like Penn State, Tennessee, and Auburn were all in the mix, with Penn State and Ohio State emerging early as the top contenders. But as his recruitment progressed, it became increasingly clear where things were trending.
“I think I felt like I was going to pick Ohio State eventually anyway, so I might as well commit right now,” Seaman told The Silver Bulletin.
That sense of certainty allowed him to move confidently, shutting things down before the process could drag on. But with that decision came relief. “It’s definitely some weight off my back being done with it all,” he said.
A major factor in his commitment was the trust he built with the coaching staff, particularly head coach Ryan Day and offensive line coach Tyler Bowen. Seaman has consistently pointed to those relationships as a driving force throughout his recruitment, and the vision laid out for his development only strengthened that bond.
“I feel like the draft highlights the development at Ohio State and how it’s some of the best in the nation,” he explained. “I feel like (Coach) Bowen has a good plan of how I will fit in.”
That plan includes maximizing his versatility, a trait that makes Seaman such a valuable addition. With experience across the offensive line and the physical tools to continue growing, he projects as a player who can develop into a key piece for the Buckeyes in the future.
Beyond development, the pull of Ohio State has always been personal. Growing up in Columbus, Seaman has long been familiar with the program and what it represents. That connection, combined with the culture within the building, helped set Ohio State apart from the rest of the field.
On the field, Buckeye Nation can expect a tone setter. “I would say I’m an aggressive player that will do anything to get the job done,” he says.
With his commitment now locked in, Ohio State adds not just another talented lineman, but a hometown prospect who understands the standard. As the 2027 class continues to come together, Seaman’s decision further reinforces the Buckeyes’ emphasis on building strength in the trenches and doing it with players who bring both talent and a deep connection to the program.
I’ve had the privilege of working across every corner of the sports media landscape—from covering Friday night lights as a beat writer for PrepRedzone, to reporting with the team at News Channel 4 WSMV (NBC affiliate), and diving deep into recruiting and scouting as an intern at Middle Tennessee State. During my time as a college student at MTSU, I also honed my broadcasting skills at the campus radio station, bringing live sports coverage and in-depth analysis to listeners across campus. My passion for sports runs deep, but nothing fires me up quite like Ohio State football. I can’t wait to bring my energy, experience, and Buckeye enthusiasm to this new opportunity!
