The Indiana Hoosiers are College Football’s 2025-26 National Champions, capping a historic 16-0 season with a 27-21 win over Miami.
On Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium, Indiana defeated Miami 27-21 to win the College Football Playoff National Championship, completing a perfect 16-0 season, and claiming the first national title in program history.
Indiana dictated the game from the opening drive. The Hoosiers managed tempo, won field position, and forced Miami to operate under constant pressure. Indiana executed with discipline and avoided the mistakes that swing championship games.
Blake Biscardi recaps the National Championship and Indiana’s historic season. The Hoosiers trusted their preparation and discipline all season.
Miami had history and home-field advantage on its side and even pushed back in the second half, as expected, but Indiana responded every time.
When Miami gained momentum, Indiana blocked a punt and converted it into a touchdown. The play shifted control immediately and exposed the difference in execution.
Later, Indiana faced a critical fourth-and-4 late in the fourth quarter, Fernando Mendoza kept the ball and ran 12 yards for a touchdown. Indiana trusted its Heisman Trophy quarterback as Mendoza delivered like Superman across the goalline.
Predictably, the Hoosiers intercepted a late pass and sealed the victory. Indiana’s defense executed exactly as it had all night, disciplined, aggressive, and composed. Indiana never wavered under pressure.
On a January night in Miami, Indiana forced college football to confront a new reality as the Hoosiers set a new standard and shifted dynamics across the sport, that winning a title is possible at any program with the right people and infrastructure.
