Something that’s stood out about Julian Sayin on tape is his decision-making and processing speed, which Ryan Day has echoed. What’s not always visible is behind the scenes, and Sayin has it to be a successful quarterback at Ohio State. His preparation translates to the field, and his mentality is becoming elite. He’s willing to do whatever it takes for his team, as evidenced by his third-down run to extend the drive against Penn State.
That play in particular stood out because dynamic passing quarterbacks Dwayne Haskins and CJ Stroud had not used their legs this early in their careers. Nonetheless, it’s an encouraging sign from the young quarterback, who’s not letting the individual award talk be a distraction. Sayin emphasized that it’s not about him, but a team.
If the Buckeyes take care of business, those awards will take care of themselves, according to Day. Still, individual awards are not the goal in Columbus. There are three team goals: Beat Michigan, Win the Big Ten, and Win the National Championship. That’s the focus of the Ohio State football team.
