Saturday Cadence Rivalry Week: Ohio State-Michigan Preview, CFP Shake-Up, and Week 14 Picks

Rivalry Week brings chaos, CFP drama, and massive stakes across Ohio State-Michigan, major matchups, coaching news, and Week 14 picks.

Rivalry Week brings out the most authentic version of college football with raw emotion, season-defining stakes, and chaos waiting around every corner. Episode 150 of Saturday Cadence delivered all of it as Blake Biscardi and David Wertheim broke down the latest College Football Playoff picture, the biggest coaching storylines, and full previews of the weekend’s marquee matchups, including Ohio State-Michigan.

This is the final chance for teams to make their statement. The newest CFP Rankings gave us plenty to chew on. Miami climbed to No. 12, but the question remains: can the Hurricanes realistically jump Notre Dame? Miami has earned respect with late-season momentum, but the Irish remain the committee’s comfort pick, staying consistent.

Michigan sits at No. 15 with a narrow yet still possible “win-and-in” scenario. It’s hard to believe, based on the turbulence of their season, but this sport has a short memory when you close strong.

Meanwhile, the coaching carousel is beginning to spin with real velocity. The biggest headline surrounds Lane Kiffin, as LSU and Ole Miss appear to be locked in a tug-of-war. Reports indicate LSU is nearing a deal, and if it becomes official before Sunday, the SEC’s balance of power shifts instantly.

Everything in Columbus has been building toward this Saturday. Ohio State has dropped four straight to Michigan, and the psychological weight of that streak has defined every conversation, every offseason emphasis, and every layer of program development.

So how does Ohio State finally get the monkey off its back? It starts with stopping Michigan’s run game. For four years, Michigan has controlled the line of scrimmage and set the physical tone of The Game. That’s been the difference. The Buckeyes must flip that script to change the ending.

This year also gives us a new chapter in what could become a defining quarterback rivalry: Bryce Underwood vs. Julian Sayin. The talent level is elite on both sides, and their performances will shape the arc of The Game for years to come.

But above the X’s and O’s, this matchup is about identity and mindset. Ryan Day has overhauled the way Ohio State approaches big games, stripping away the noise, emphasizing discipline, and doubling down on a process-first mentality. If the Buckeyes are going to change the cycle, it has to come in the final 15 minutes, the period that has decided this rivalry every year since 2019.

The margins are razor-thin with an enormous stage.

This weekend is loaded with matchups carrying real stakes. Texas A&M at Texas: Can the Longhorns still reach the CFP? Or does A&M march into Austin with a chance to finish 12-0 and remain undefeated?

Upset Watch
