David: Texas 24 Ohio State 23
Blake: There are many potential outcomes for this game, ranging from Ohio State winning by two touchdowns or Texas beating the Buckeyes by ten. The answer is probably somewhere in the middle, barring a turnover-prone outing from one of the young quarterbacks. Read Blake’s full thoughts here. Ohio State 28 Texas 24
Dan: The Texas secondary is depleted after the Jahdae Barron and Andrew Mukuba left for the NFL. Ohio State should be able to dominate through the air with first-time starting quarterback Julian Sayin at the helm. I expect Arch Manning, Quintrevion Wisner, and CJ Baxter to give the Buckeyes fits in the run game. It is imperative that the defensive line wins the day for the Buckeyes. The difference in this one is Caleb Downs who will make a few key plays to force field goal attempts instead of allowing Texas to score touchdowns. Buckeyes and Julian Sayin get a massive win in a classic 35-34.
Cass: The game everyone has been waiting for. Some media outlets calling for Ohio State to be blown out. Some are predicting Buckeye win. At this point not game on the schedule this week is as evenly matched when the Buckeyes and Longhorns got at it this Saturday. I look for both Arch Manning and Julian Sayin to struggle to struggle out the gate. It will come down to the trenches and who wants it more. I look for the Buckeyes to feed Jeremiah Smith a lot which will force double and triple teams that will lead Tate, Inniss and Klare open. Buckeyes I feel have slightly better skill on both sides of the ball and they will use the home crowd to their advantage as the Buckeyes win a tight one! Ohio State 20 Texas 16
Carson H: This game has all the potential to be an instant classic. All off-season there have been a plethora of storylines leading to this season opener being arguably the biggest in Ohio State football history. Texas obviously has plenty of talent but Ohio State has the best two players in the country, and the best player on the field at all times. I could see Texas jumping out to a little bit of a lead early on before Ohio State settles into the game. I believe Ryan Day will have the boys ready to play, and like he said, Sayin just has to find a way to win. It may not be pretty, but enough plays will be made in front of a rocking crowd to lead the Buckeyes to a statement win in the season-opener. Ohio State 27 Texas 24
Carson M: The Buckeyes start the game out slow trying to catch their footing with a new QB under center. Arch and the longhorns strike first, leaving buckeye nation a little worried and hitting the panic button. Bucks go into the half down but in a tight one. The 2nd half adjustments are made and Ohio State takes down the number one team in the country in game one with a thriller 27-24.
TJ: Ohio State 27 Texas 24
AJ: Buckeyes keep it close up until the final minutes. I think this is one of the games on the schedule that is a real toss up and I would not be shocked by any result. I think Arch has more experience than Sayin in big moments which helps the Longhorns. Even with a loss it will not hurt the Buckeyes because there are guaranteed 11 more games to win and make another playoff run. Texas 28-24
