Jake Diebler and Ohio State have secured its first commitment to the 2025 Transfer Portal Class in Indiana Guard and Ohio Native Gabe Cupps
Gabe Cupps is the first player to commit from the transfer portal and is an instant upgrade to the back end of the rotation. Cupps is coming off a season-ending knee injury and should be healthy before the season starts. The Centerville, Ohio product and 2022 Ohio Mr. Basketball returns home after two seasons at Indiana after committing to the Hoosiers over Ohio State and Stanford in 2023.

In his freshman season, Cupps averaged around three points a game which included twenty-two starts for the Hoosiers, and had big performances against Auburn and Penn State. In his Sophomore season, he suffered a Torn ACL just four games in, which would end his sophomore campaign before it could get started.

Cupps is known for his time spent on the same AAU team as Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James Jr (the Blue Chips) during their middle school career. The 6’2 Guard from Centerville High School is highly spoken about as a great basketball mind. Gabe’s father, Brook Cupps, has been a longtime high school head coach in Ohio.
Cupps is expected to come into Columbus and be able to fully heal from his injuries as well as have a chance to develop with no true short-term expectations.
Cupps will have three more years of college eligibility as he will be granted a medical hardship waiver for this past season.
