TSB Staff Picks return after the bye week for a showdown between The Ohio State Buckeyes and Marshall Thundering Herd.
David: Small step back due to the off week. Just have to get back in rhythm. Ohio State 42 Marshall 14
Blake: Ohio State will stay balanced on offense and continue spreading the wealth. Jeremiah Smith will remain heavily involved to start his Buckeye career, but the story will again be a stout defensive performance from Jim Knowles’ unit. Marshall is a formidable opponent with talented players, but the Scarlet and Gray have their way. Ohio State 48 Marshall 6
Dan: Marshall comes into this game after a solid showing against Virginia Tech which they lost. Marshall has some explosive playmakers on offense. A.J. Turner, Christian Fitzpatrick, and Elijah Metcalf will be this Ohio State defense’s toughest test to date. However, Marshall struggles mightily in pass protection and they have question marks at the quarterback position. I expect Marshall to make a few big plays on offense. However, the Ohio State defense will not break and ultimately will force turnovers and generate sacks. On offense, the Buckeyes should face no issues with the Marshall secondary. I expect the Buckeyes to dominate and win 49-7.
Cass: Look for the OL to be tested early with Donovan Jackson coming back and the strength of Marshall’s defense being on the line. I think Will Howard will have a big day in the passing game with Emeka Egbuka reminding everyone why he was the number one receiver coming out in 2021. Look for TreyVeon Henderson to lead the team in rushing. Defensively look for them to continue to get better and feast at the Quarterback. I believe Sonny Styles will lead the team in tackles and have his best day as a Buckeye in his career.
Still going on my Bold prediction Brandon Inniss will return a kick or punt for a TD. Ohio State wins 48-3
Carson H: More of the same on both sides of the ball with touchdowns through the air and on the ground, with the defense swarming the quarterback yet again. I expect big games from Emeka Egbuka and Sonny Styles, as the Buckeyes roll in their final non-conference tune-up. Read Carson’s full thoughts here. Ohio State wins 48-7
AJ: Once again a blowout is going to happen, but I believe Marshall will throw some trickery with what seems like who knows QB situation as Braxton, Earle and Pennington are still fighting for the same job. The Bucks get a great showing from Carnell Tate. Ohio State wins 42-10
Carson M: The Buckeyes are going to get Marshall’s best right out of the gate and the herd may even drive the field on the first drive coming away with some points, but the Buckeyes are just too much to handle in this one. I have the Buckeyes 45-7.
