The Buckeyes held their second prospect camp on June 5th. They sent a flurry of offers after some impressive performances. One of those was to one of the best OLs in the 2026 class, as Justin Frye extended an offer to four-star OL Darius Gray out of Richmond, Virginia. He spoke highly about the Buckeyes to The Silver Bulletin.

The offer is a very meaningful one to Gray, he said, “The offer meant so much to me. Just to be recognized by another school I grew up watching means everything its a dream come true. Just blessed for it all, could not do it without the Lord.”
The talented OL said this about where the Buckeyes stand: “Definitely at the top! I enjoy my time at Ohio State. The coaches, being able to be coached really well. The people there were great, I definitely had a feel of family atmosphere.” The offer is a impactful one for Gray’s recruitment, he described. “It affects it a lot, as things will change with Ohio State here.” Gray will be a name to watch very early for the Buckeyes 2026 Class.
Furthermore, Gray enjoys a great relationship with Coach Frye, “My relationship with Coach [Justin] Frye is great, he does a great job coaching as well as loving and caring for his guys off the field.” In addition, he has a growing relationship with running backs coach Carlos Locklyn, “Good connection, as we are still growing within one another.” He could see himself being a Buckeye, Gray said, “Definitely, to be coached by the best and play against the best will help me get to my end goal. So playing for Ohio State would definitely fit for me.”

Commitment Timeline
In regards to a commitment timeline, Gray mentioned a possible commitment before his senior year. He said, “Definitely want to commit before my senior year with a top school, probably this winter.” With that, it’s hard to not call the Buckeyes a school in pole position for Gray. The Virginia native has offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Notre Dame, and others. But, if the Buckeyes continue to stay the same way, it would be no shock if the Buckeyes secure a commitment in the winter from Gray. Obviously, time will tell in this recruitment.
