On May 7th, Ohio State extended an offer to one of the best linebackers in the 2026 Class, Rodney Colton.
Furthermore, the offer was extended to South Carolina commitment four-star Rodney Colton Jr. He has been committed to South Carolina since April 24th, 2024.

In addition, stuff already stands out to Colton about the Buckeyes. He said, “The city love, the atmosphere, the facility, coaching, and developing.” He also noted this about the offer, “Means a lot knowing he was in the league and knows a lot.” Colton is talking about coach Laurinaitis. Ohio State sits in the top ten as of right now for Colton. But what’s next is a visit to Columbus, which he said he plans on doing.
He talked about his commitment to South Carolina as well, “My commitment, it was a good choice for me. The home feeling I felt was it.” He added, “My recruitment is still open.” But he stated that he is loyal to South Carolina. He would be an outstanding pickup for whoever lands him. But the Gamecocks will be tough to beat. The Georgia-native was the second commit of the Gamecocks 2026 class.
Again, Ohio State will find themselves in the mix, but there are other schools — Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Alabama and others pushing for Colton. The instate Bulldogs will be a team constantly in this recruitment. But, he plans on staying loyal to the Gamecocks. There is still plenty of time for noise to be made and decisions to be flipped, but for now, Colton is locked in on his commitment to South Carolina.
