QB Will Howard has a strong arm and is also a threat with his legs. Ohio State has not had a consistent run-threat from the quarterback position since Justin Fields in 2019 and 2020. His dynamic playmaking abilities provide an instant boost to the supremely talented Ohio State offense.
During his time at Kansas State, Howard threw for 5,786 yards and 48 touchdowns while completing 58.8% of his passes. He also ran 226 times for 921 yards and 19 touchdowns, which will be a major weapon against Big Ten defenses.
Howard’s development with Ryan Day over the next eight months will be the difference in Ohio State competing for a National Championship or not next season.
The Big Ten welcomes new additions UCLA, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington to the conference, and the Buckeyes have a date with the Ducks in Eugene on October 12th. That will be the litmus test for Day and Howard.
Will Howard will join a talented quarterback room with incoming freshman Air Noland, Lincoln Keinholz, and Devin Brown, who is expected to transfer. Sources tell The Silver Bulletin the Buckeyes will look to add an experienced depth quarterback if Brown does indeed explore his options elsewhere.
