Ohio State lost another defensive back to the transfer portal today as it was announced that redshirt freshman Ryan Turner will be searching for a new school at which to play in 2024.

Turner was a three-star member of Ohio State’s 2021 class, hailing from powerhouse Chaminade-Madonna High School in Hollywood, Florida. The 5’11 corner was touted for his speed and athleticism, but unfortunately was simply unable to break the top of the depth chart during his time in Columbus.
After arriving on campus as an early-enrollee in January of 2022, Turner played in four games, enough to gain experience but also preserve his redshirt. In the 2023 season, Turner recorded his only statistics in Ohio State’s win against Minnesota, notching two tackles.
Ohio State’s defensive back room is expected to lose Denzel Burke to the NFL, but will return Davison Igbinosun, Jermaine Mathews, Jyaire Brown, and others. There is no decision yet on nickel corner Jordan Hancock. Regardless, Tim Walton will certainly still have talented players to work with in 2024.
