Bullet Points: 2025 In State Target Update and 2027 Name To Know

Elijah Kimble

We’re just three days away from the biggest game in college football every season, “The Game.” As viewers across the world tune in to watch the highly touted matchup, we remember this is one of the biggest recruiting tools both programs use each year. A matter of in state recruitment is always on the table as both programs equally try to keep their top talent in state while the other looks to poach from out of state.

In today’s Bullet Points session we take a look at an in state recruitment and a younger prospect you should start to know.

For starters, there may be no better name fitted for a Buckeye out of the state of Ohio than Trey McNutt from Shaker Heights in Cleveland. McNutt is listed as an ATH/S on 247 and other recruiting sites but most definitely will be a corner at the next level. The highly talented coverage back stands in at 6’0, 180-pounds and will be expected to be a major ball hawk when he gets to college.

The Buckeyes know this is an in state prospect they cannot afford to miss on as top level corners are hard to come by. McNutt is ranked as the 33rd prospect nationally and the No.3 player in the state of Ohio. There is real potential that McNutt could end up a five star by the end of his recruitment.

Everything suggests at this point Ohio State is leading but Georgia and Michigan have definitely tried to push for the coveted athlete. Although Michigan is closer in proximity, I believe Georgia is the major threat here. I still like the Buckeyes in this recruitment, however.

Last weekend was Senior Day for the Buckeyes and was an opportunity for Ohio State to get some young freshman and sophomores on campus. One player I specifically have been told to keep an eye on in the next little bit is stand out 2027 freshman RB Elijah Kimble.

Kimble had the chance to visit Columbus last weekend for an unofficial visit. For those who do not know Kimble, is a major standout RB who dominated the state of New York this year with Canisius High School out of Buffalo. Kimble through 11 games put up 1821 yards, 19 TD’s on 191 carries. For those math gurus, that’s 9.5 yards per carry. Remember, he is. freshman.

If that’s not enough, Kimble ran for over 100 yards in every game this season. This is likely the No.1 RB coming out of the 2027 class in the future if he stays on this pace and it’s very likely the Buckeyes would be his leader for his services. We will keep an eye on this one as he’s only a 2027 but definitely a name many should start to follow.
