Ohio State Recruiting: Buckeyes Move To The Top Of 2026 Four-Star OT Micah Smith’s list

The Buckeyes enjoyed a huge recruiting weekend alongside their top-ten victory over Penn State.

One of the highly-rated recruits visiting for the Big Ten showdown was 2026 four-star offensive lineman Micah “Champion” Smith from Vero Beach, Florida. Smith had an outstanding visit and the Buckeyes recruiting staff knocked it out of the park. “The most recent visit meant to me was seeing all conventions of the program,” Smith said, “You know, visiting the facilities and experiencing gameday.” The Buckeyes are a team heavily in the mix for the tackle.

Smith mentioned his favorite part of his visit was, “When I got to watch pregame and kind of compare myself to the lineman up close. I also liked sitting in the stands with a very live crowd.”  The Buckeyes made a lot stand out on his visit, but he mentioned one thing in particular: “How well I was treated by the coaching staff and recruiting assistants.” The visit went so well, Smith said, “The Buckeyes currently stand at the top of my list.” Adding on, Smith described Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye: “Coach Frye is a very laid back and chill coach at times. He is a keep it real kind of dude and that’s what I love about him. So that’s how he kind of recruits me, he keeps it real.”

Furthermore, Smith plans on coming back to Columbus this summer to camp, he explained, “In the summer my area has a big bus tour that takes us to colleges and camps in the south-east region, we typically hit up big time schools… I also am most likely going to camp at Florida State and Miami in the summer.” The Buckeyes are going to be in this one for a while, considering the fact that he is a 2026 prospect.

Many other programs are in pursuit for Smith, including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, and more. Smith will be a name to know when it comes to the time for the 2026 class. But, it’s all good news that the Buckeyes are standing out early.
