Ohio State had three offensive linemen from 2022’s College Football Playoff team selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The three selections were:
- OT Paris Johnson (Arizona Cardinals: R1, P6)
- OT Dawand Jones (Cleveland Browns: R4, P111)
- C Luke Wypler (Cleveland Browns: R6, P190)
Johnson was widely projected as a first-round pick and ended up being the first offensive lineman selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, as the Cardinals nabbed him before other top prospects including Darnell Wright (Chicago) and Peter Skoronski (Tennessee). Jones was slated to go anywhere from the first round to the sixth round, and ended up going in the fourth round due to questions surrounding his athleticism and motivation. Wypler was a surprise early entrant into the draft especially with a loaded center class, and ended up slipping to the sixth round.
All three of them, however, are off to hot starts through the end of preseason action, as illustrated by the stats below.
Paris Johnson this preseason: 18 pass blocking snaps, 0 sacks allowed, 0 QB hits allowed.
Dawand Jones this preseason: 148 pass blocking snaps (most in NFL), 0 sacks allowed.
Luke Wypler this preseaosn: 133 pass blocking snaps (2nd most in NFL), 0 sacks allowed.

Jones and Wypler have been on the field quite a bit for the Browns in preseason action and have surpassed expectations, with Jones allowing 0 sacks in 148 snaps, and Wypler being the highest-graded center of any throughout the preseason. Johnson has played sparingly due to his status as a roster lock, but has also lived up to the lofty expectations, not allowing a single sack thus far.
While preseason and regular season are certainly different animals, the Arizona and Cleveland coaches have to like what they have seen from these former Buckeyes as the trio looks to hit the ground running when the NFL regular season starts next week.
