The Ohio State football team had three players selected in the top 20 in Thursday night’s first round of the NFL Draft. Ryan Day’s team remains a favorite by the selecting teams as Dawand Jones was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 111th pick in the fourth round. Jones is best known for his size and stature as his game morphed into one of the top offensive linemen in the country last season.

He stands 6’8 and weighs 374 pounds, which is tremendous for an offensive tackle. There are few hesitations and some concerns of Jones maintaining the team’s desired playing weight. He managed well at Ohio State, but is an area to watch. Nevertheless, Jones earned third team All-Big Ten honors in 2021 and second team AP All-American and third team All-Big Ten again last season in 2022.
Jones was also a high school basketball standout. His athleticism is virtually unheard-of for his size as his quickness and versatility will be an excellent addition for the Browns offensive line and protection schemes. His wingspan is enormous and can overpower incoming pass rushers as well as swallow 1 on 1 blitzes.
Dawand Jones is the fifth Buckeye selected from Ryan Day’s team behind QB CJ Stroud, OL Paris Johnson Jr., WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and DE Zach Harrison. Watching Jones continue to blossom into a stellar offensive tackle was incredible to watch in college and will translate well into the NFL.
