Yesterday the Buckeyes saw themselves once again come in as the No.2 ranked team in the College Football Playoff Rankings. Each week it is crucial that the Buckeyes have their best outing not just for their championship hopes but also for recruiting purposes. With programs like Alabama and Clemson getting knocked off by inferior programs, recruits definitely take notice.

However, with both Alabama and Clemson taking losses and the programs seemingly on the decline, it opens the doors for the Buckeyes to get back in the mix of things with some committed recruits. First off, ever since Ohio State’s bye week happened just before the Iowa game, the smoke and rumors of Caleb Downs commitment to Alabama has been considered shaky. With another recent Alabama loss and the program almost surely to be out of this years playoffs, Downs seems to be cooling on his commitment and I’ve spoke to a few sources who say that a de-commitment could be looming. With that said, there are definitely some conversations going on behind the scenes that suggest Downs could be taking a visit to Columbus for the inevitable matchup of undefeated Ohio State against undefeated Michigan in the game of the year. If that does happen I’d fully expect the Buckeyes to have a chance in this recruitment and be able to pull of what was once thought of as the impossible flip.
A name that Ohio State fans should soon become familiar with is 2024 Virginia linebacker Kristopher Jones. Jones is ranked as the No.7 linebacker in the country and the No.1 player in the state of Virginia. The Buckeyes are a program currently trending for the highly regarded four-star backer. Jones recently informed the Ohio Staff that he will be visiting on November 26th when the Buckeyes take on the Wolverines. Jones is among a large list of recruits who are lining up to take a visit to Columbus for that game but not all are being given the green light to commit right away. With Jones however, whenever he feels ready in his recruitment to make it official, you can bet the Buckeyes staff will not be hesitating to accept his commitment. Keep an eye on Jones in the coming months to make an early commitment. LSU, Notre Dame, and Georgia, should all be considered threats in this recruitment.
Looking ahead to the world-famous rivalry week, the Buckeyes could be expecting some good news ahead of “The Game”. Highly sought after 2024 four-star wide receiver Tyseer Denmark is set to make his commitment on his mothers birthday, November 24th. The Philadelphia native is currently trending in favor of the Buckeyes and I fully expect him to make it official when his commitment day rolls around. The Buckeyes have been in a major recruiting battle with the home state Penn State Nittany Lions and Alabama up to this point. Although, it looks like the Brian Hartline’s prestigious reputation is going to win out once again. Denmark is ranked as the No.2 player in the state of Pennsylvania but is ranked as the No.16 WR nationally. Do not be surprised by this time next year if Denmark moves up to the top five in the country like we’ve seen so many times before with Hartline finding players before they’re highly sought after. Regardless of the outcome with Denmark, the Buckeyes are expecting huge a month on both the trail and in their season.
