Ohio State has lost a few transfers from the defensive backfield recently, and now are slated to lose another one as safety Marcus Hooker will be hitting the transfer portal.

Hooker, a former three-star recruit and brother of Ohio State All-American Malik Hooker, spent four years in Columbus as a rotational player. His most productive season came in 2020, when he recorded 15 tackles and an interception while starting four games. He ended up being named Honorable Mention All-Big Ten following the 2020 campaign.
His time in Columbus was tumultuous, with two drunk-driving related incidents marring his tenure. Nevertheless, Ohio State stuck by Hooker and ultimately let him back on the team after Ryan Day said Hooker “paid his dues” following the incidents. Now, he’ll be looking for a fresh start on and off the field.
Hooker joins Lejond Cavazos, Bryson Shaw, and Andre Turrentine as members of the Buckeye secondary who have transferred this offseason.
