BOOM! Four-Star Offensive Tackle Luke Montgomery Commits to Ohio State!

Ohio State officially added its fifth commitment to the 2023 class when Luke Montgomery made it official this afternoon. The 6-foot-5, 260 pounder plays both sides of the ball in high school but will be only playing on the offensive side when he comes to Columbus.

The Findlay, Ohio product comes as a high four-star, and a top-100 player nationally. Montgomery had narrowed down his top six schools to Ohio State, Clemson, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Oklahoma before ultimately announcing that he would be remaining in the Buckeye state for college.

This one comes as new Ohio State offensive line coach Justin Frye’s first big win on the recruiting trail. Frye immediately made an impact on the Montgomery family following his transition from UCLA to Columbus. Frye has been considered a top level recruiter across the country and he looks to continue with this momentum after landing the coveted and athletic tackle.

Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has been adamant on keeping the top recruits in Ohio under the Buckeyes wing. It would appear that one of his newest staffers is going to be a major addition in helping him achieve that goal. The Buckeyes still have a long way to go in this 2023 cycle but the commitment from Montgomery definitely strengthens the core.

The Buckeyes class now consists of five commits. Two offensive linemen, (Montgomery, Joshua Padilla) one defensive lineman, (Will Smith) one defensive back (Cedrick Hawkins), and one tight end (Ty Lockwood).
