Former Buckeye and SE Ohio Native Joe Burrow Leads Bengals to Super Bowl

SE Ohio’s best-kept secret is not a secret anymore as Joe Burrow has engineered an incredible run to Super Bowl LVI for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Beloved former Ohio State Buckeye Joe Burrow has led his home-state Cincinnati Bengals to Super Bowl LVI in his second season. The Bengals completed an improbable run to Los Angeles, beating the Raiders at home and the Titans and Chiefs on the road.

Joe was Mr. Ohio in high school, graduated from The Ohio State University, and transferred to LSU where he delivered an epic National Championship run. All of which set him up to become the No. 1 overall draft pick.

Burrow is the first No. 1 overall pick to lead a team to the Super Bowl in either of his first two seasons. He has quickly become one of the most likable players in the NFL and will have Buckeye Nation rooting for him on February 13th.

AFC Championship Recap

Toward the end of the first half, the Chiefs raced out to a 21 point lead in total command. But an 18-point deficit meant nothing to Joe Cool. The youngster engineered a masterful comeback with the poise and calmness of a ten-year veteran.

The Mahomes Magic meter appeared to have another act as Arrowhead erupted after the referee said the coin toss was tails. But it still didn’t match the decibel level of those SEC stadiums, according to Burrow. He was prepared and didn’t waver. All he wanted was a chance, and the defense gave him one.

Vonn Bell intercepted Patrick Mahomes on third down to suck the air out of Chiefs Kingdom. The stadium fell silent and stunned as Burrow trotted onto the field. The Bengals had to move the ball enough to get in McPherson’s range.

Big plays from Burrow, Joe Mixon, and Tee Higgins positioned Cincinnati for a 31-yard FG to win it. Expect anything less? Evan “Money” McPherson confidently split the uprights right down the middle to send the Queen City into a euphoric celebration.

Cincinnati was picked to be the third-worst team in the sport this year, but that did not matter. This team believes and plays confidently. Underdogs no more. Joey Franchise has done it. The Bengals are heading to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1988-89 season.

Joe Burrow has the opportunity to become the first quarterback ever to win the Heisman Trophy, National Championship, and Super Bowl. Stay tuned for special coverage over the next two weeks.
