Bullet Points: Under Armour All-America Week, Omari Abor And Richard Young Update

The Under Armour All-America week is under way and some top level committed and uncommitted 2022 prospects will be attending. Ohio State commits that are attending the week include CJ Hicks, Gabe Powers, and Kenyatta Jackson.

Ohio State is hoping to add one more player at the camp this Sunday to their No.4 ranked class in the country. High four-star defensive end prospect Omari Abor out of Duncanville, Texas is set to make his commitment Sunday at the Under Armour All-American Game.

Abor has a top five list consisting of Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Texas and Texas A&M. Ohio State is considered to be the leader going into Sunday’s commitment by most. Here at The Silver Bulletin we suspect Abor to pick the Buckeyes as well.

If there were to be any surprises on Sunday, it would be only for Abor to go with either his home state Longhorns or the Tide, if Nick Saban’s can make a late push in the end. If Texas is to win out it would be due to the similar deal Terrance Brooks received from the Longhorns.

In the world of NIL and players being able to be publicly paid, it would not be of any surprise to hear a high school student pick a school based on a signing bonus. Ultimately, I still believe the relationship Abor has with Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson wins out here.

Another name I really wanted to focus in on in this weeks Bullet Points is a 2023 prospect. Richard Young, the No.1 2023 RB in the country has said that he will be visiting Jackson State in the near future as he has a growing relationship with JSU head coach Deion Sanders.

Ohio State has been considered the favorite for a while now to land Young but there is still a full year left to go in his recruitment. I was asked by many if Ohio State should see Jackson State as a threat here with the No.1 player in the country for 20222 Travis Hunter flipping to JSU from Florida State, could it happen again?

No I really do not believe that Young will go to an HBCU school. I had a chance to speak with Young a few months ago and he told me that the most important aspect in his future decision is picking a school that he believes is going to allow him to develop the most.

This is not a slash to HBCU schools but, as of right now, the talent Young would be going against is not going to prepare him for the NFL the way the Big Ten or SEC would. In the end, this recruitment is going to end one of two ways: Ohio State lands the No.1 RB in the country once again, or Alabama lands the No.1 RB in the country once again. I do not see Young pulling the unthinkable the way Hunter did.
